How It All  Began

Hello!  We are Norm and Sharon Pfaff.  We started Serenity Scents in 1998. This all began with my interest in Aromatherapy and candles. Candles have always represented "light" to me.  A small flame can illuminate a dark room and a spiritual light can illuminate a soul.  In my mind, essential oils represent healing. When the healing oils enter our body through our breath or skin, they always bring comfort and healing in one way or another. When you combine the light and the oils you have a wonderful synergy that does only good for the body, mind and spirit. It seemed to me that by making Aromatherapy candles I could share this gift of nature with others. After studying about Aromatherapy  and candle making, I convinced my husband to allow me to make a sizable order of supplies and started making scented candles with essential oils. Bath oil, bath salts, essential oil blends and massage oil came next, then gift baskets, which I gave to my family and friends. Eventually I started working with herbs.  Soon we started having a booth at craft fairs. It was a pleasure to share Aromatherapy with others and see them begin to use it on their own.  I began having home parties where people could experience Aromatherapy first hand. The local college invited me to teach mini-courses on Aromatherapy.  I have recently earned an Aromatherapy Certificate. My husband, Norm, has been the wind beneath my wings. He helps to purchase supplies, price product, package it and has been known to make candles when we run into a time crunch. More importantly, he has given his full support in allowing me to be creative and to run a small home business.
