Using Dried Herbs

Herbs have been used throughout the centuries to freshen the home, as a remedy to illness and to promote health. It is stilled used today and it is rising in popularity in alternative health.

Herbs and aromatherapy are used together and often compliment one another.

Some of the uses for herbs are:

Lavender: Put a little loose lavender in a sachet next to your bedside at night to help you sleep, or use an eye pillow with lavender to relax or treat a headache. It is especially effective on migraine or sinus headaches. Put lavender in a small cotton sachet bag, put a cotton ball in the top to keep the lavender in the bag, throw the bag in the dryer to scent your clothes.

Bath Bag Recipe:  Combine rolled oats, lavender, rose petals, and soapwort, put in a muslin bag, put it under running water in your bath. You can wash with the bag since it has soapwort in it, and it will scent the bath and refresh you.

Herbs have the natural properties that can be healing as well as promote a feeling of well being.

Relaxing with Herbs

A great way to relax is to use an herbal eye pillow. It is filled with flax and several herbs, such as lavender and chamomile, to help you relax. When you heat the pillow in the microwave, the heat releases the scent of the herbs and has a relaxing effect on your body. It also is weighted so that it gently uses acupressure around your eyes. It is a great way to meditate.

Also, to treat sore muscles in your shoulders, try using an herbal neck pillow. It is also filled with herbs that will relax you. If your muscles are sore or overused, you can put the neck pillow in a plastic bag in the freezer and cool it, which will then help to reduce any swelling. If your muscles are tired, put the neck pillow in the microwave to warm it and this will soothe tired muscles
